The Start of a Great Educational Journey
Ready to Start?
Any child that turns five (5) prior to September 1st can enroll in kindergarten. Children who turn five (5) years of age between September 1st and December 31st of the applicable school year may be considered for early entrance to kindergarten upon parent request.
Parents must submit a request for early entrance and participate in the review process. Students approved for consideration will participate in a one- to two-week trial period, during which the teacher and school leader will observe the student’s readiness for kindergarten. The teacher, school leader, and parent will complete a readiness rubric addressing social-emotional development, self-regulation, language, physical development, fine motor skills, learning disposition, independence, safety and self-care skills, and full-day stamina.
At the conclusion of the trial period, the teacher, school leader, and parent will meet to review all observations and determine whether the student will continue in kindergarten for the current school year. No single test score shall determine eligibility. Decisions shall be based on multiple sources of evidence and the student’s overall readiness for a full-day academic program.
